• What does Pili mean?

Pili is the Nahuatl (the language spoken by the Aztecs) word for noble, as in nobleman/noblewoman. Unfortunately, in our contemporary society indigenous mesoamericans have been stereotyped as poor and backwards. At Pili we want to upset this notion by celebrating the magnificence of the elites in pre-columbian mesoamerica. Our mission at Pili is to provide an alternative vision of what luxury was and can be by drawing inspiration from Mesoamerica's most spectacular artifacts.

  • Raising Awareness

At Pili we lament the fact that most of Mesoamerican history is swept under the rug. Mesoamerica was a veritable cradle of civilization with a rich history of over 3000 years of urban settlements before contact with Europeans. Although most people have heard of the Aztecs, they are just the tip of the Mesoamerican iceberg. In order to raise awareness about this rich history every one of our articles will include a well researched background on the artifacts and/or themes that inform our designs.

  • Handmade in USA

All of Pili's bags and clothes are handmade by me in my workshop in Northern Virginia. I source only the highest quality materials for all my products. If you're curious about how the products are made, you can check out our youtube and instagram pages which detail the manufacturing process.

  • Mexican-American Owned Business

Pili is a Mexican-American owned business based in Northern Virginia. My mission is to showcase the Mesoamerican legacy with grace, goodwill, and beauty.
